Alma Tate Bridges, 88, of Kings Mountain, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Carolinas Healthcare System, Kings Mountain. She was born March 31, 1928 in Gaston County to the late Fletcher and Mina Holland Tate.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, John Raymond "Ray" Bridges, Sr.; her son, John Bridges, Jr.; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Alma is survived by her son, Andy Bridges, and wife Kim of Kings Mountain; her daughter, Sylvia Hamrick of Kings Mountain; sister, Pauline Paysour; grandchildren, Johnny Bridges III, Yvette Moten, Jackie Schull, Emily Bridges Towell and Miranda Bridges; great-grandchildren, Cierra, Macy, Bianca and Kiera; special nieces, Ann, Nancy, Jeanne and Nell; special friends, Bill and Barbara Bridges and Dennis and Mary Lou Mauney.
Alma was a member of Long Creek Presbyterian Church. She was also a master doll maker and a member of the Doll Artisan Guild. She retired from the Gaston County School System as an assistant teacher for 27 years.
Mrs. Bridges' funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Long Creek Presbyterian Church, with the Dr. Charles Davenport officiating.
Her family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm prior the service at the church
Interment will follow at Patterson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC.
