BARBARA W. HARMON
Barbara Williams Harmon, 80, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte. Barbara was born May 25, 1933 in Elizabethton, Tennessee to the late Paul Curtis Williams and Mary Breakfield Williams Broome.
She was employed by Reeves Brothers, Osage Plant in Bessemer City for over 20 years and was retired from the Gaston County School System.
Barbara worked tirelessly as a volunteer for the Gaston County Department of Social Services Extension Center and 4-H Club in the 1980's and was honored by receiving the Volunteer of the Year award. She was a dedicated member of Linwood Presbyterian Church for many years. She loved the Lord, her family, and her church with all her heart. With her sweet spirit and sincerity, she always made everyone she met feel like a very special person.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Tony Harrison of Fancy Gap, Va, and Marie and Charlie Laye of Kings Mountain, NC; grandchildren, John Harrison of Fancy Gap, Va, David and Penny Harrison of Stallings, NC, Greg and Jennifer Laye of Kings Mountain, NC; great-grandchildren: Blaine Harrison, Drew, Ashley, and Cameron Laye, Miles, Hope, and Sophia Harrison, Nate Hall, Hannah Allen. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband of 54 years, John Junior Harmon and brother, Paul Curtis Williams, Jr.
Her funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at Sisk-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel with Dr. Joel Harlow officiating.
Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at Barbara's home.
