Barbara Fortenberry Hopper, 82, with Gods strength and grace, was able to spend extended time with her family until passing peacefully to her Heavenly home on June 19, 2013 at White Oak Manor, Kings Mountian. She was born on November 25, 1930 in Gaston County to the late Jack and Lela Wright Fortenberry.
Barbara retired after 30 years with Homelite/John Deere Corporation and later worked at White Oak Manor, Kings Mountain. She was a former member of Ragan Wesleyan Church but was recently attending Pisgah ARP Church. Barbara was a dedicated fan of the Atlanta Braves. She lived for her sons, daughters-in-law, and grandkids and will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Larry Hopper and Gloria Morrow of Gastonia, Curtis Hopper and Daughtry of Bessemer City; sister, Jackie Hibberts of Gastonia, daughter-in-law, Doretta Hopper of High Point; grandchildren, Heather, Chris, Hannah , Leah, Spencer, Sayre and Shea Hopper; great-grandchild, Jayden Lee Falls; special friends, Mary Morrow, Jim and Janette Lail.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Nesbit Hopper; son, Rev. Bruce Hopper; sister, Mary Lou Holland.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 2:30 PM at Gaston Memorial Park with Rev. Rick Lewis officiating.
Her family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services, Bessemer City.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150
