BERTRAM  ROTE



Bertram Howard "Papaw Bert" Rote, 72, of Kings Mountain, passed away on January 31, 2013, at Kings Mountain Hospital.  He was born April 19, 1940 in Buffalo, New York to the late Clifford and Viola Wack Rote.



Bertram served in the United States Air Force and was a member of Glory Bound Baptist Church, Kings Mountain.  Papaw Bert was known to all for his wood crafts and especially pulpits.



He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alice Rote; son, Scott Rote and wife Gail of Bessemer City;  Mary Ann Melton who he raised like a daughter ; sister, Viola Banks of Buffalo, NY; 2 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 step-grandchild; 3 step-great-grandchildren; 2 grand-daughters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Melissa and Sandra Rote; one son Timmy Rote; 3 sisters; 2 brothers



Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home, Bessemer City with Pastor Michael Rote officiating.



Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery with full military rites by Bessemer City American Legion Post 243 Honor Guard.



The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
