Betty Caldwell

Betty Jean Stewart Caldwell, 86, of Bessemer City, she died peacefully January 5, 2015, at Peak Resources, Cherryville and went home to see Jesus. She was born November 12, 1928 in Gaston County to the late Charlie P. and Florence Bell Stewart.

Betty was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family dearly. Betty loved baking and cooking for her family. She loved to garden and she enjoyed her goldfish pond. Betty also loved the Lord and her church very much. She had a very dear friend Zelma York who she loved spending time with. The family would like to thank Peak Resources of Cherryville for all the special care.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas F. Caldwell, Sr.; brothers, Charles Stewart, Clayton Stewart, Brady Stewart; sisters, Geraldene Stewart and Hettie Dunn.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara K. Putnam and husband Ronnie, Sr. of Kings Mountain, Patsy Schied and husband Bobby, Cherie Hawkins and husband Mike, Kathy Rhinehardt all of Bessemer City; sons, Jim Long of Bessemer City, Don E. Long of Atlanta, Ga; grandchildren, Ronnie Putnam, Jr. and wife Beth, Dana Whitesides and husband Terry, Joey Rhinehardt, Carly Smith, Andy Schied, Ann Bowen, Chris Rhinehardt and wife Ashley, Don A. Long; step-grandson, Brian Whisnant and wife Samatha; great-grandchildren, Sara and Ashley Putnam, Brandon, Zack and Cassey Whitesides, Kaylee and Lena Rhinehardt, Brock Smith and Reese, Wesley Brandon, Jalynn and Gage Rhinehardt and one on the way, step-grandchildren, Nicholas and Nicole Whisnant; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Linda Stewart.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation, Bessemer City.

Her funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday at Westview Baptist Church, Gastonia with Rev. Jerry Millwood officiating.

Interment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens, Mt. Holly.
