BILLIE RHYNE

Billie Sue Summit Rhyne, 89, of Bessemer City, passed away on October 16, 2013 at White Oak Manor, Kings Mountain. She was born November 24, 1923 in Gaston County, to the late
Cleveland Arthur and Eliza Jane Bryte Ormand Summitt.

Billie graduated from Bessemer City High School and played on the girls' basketball team. She was a life time member of First Presbyterian Church in Bessemer City. Billie was very active in the church with the youth and was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Eastern Star for 56 years and the White Shrine of Jerusalem-Judean Shrine No 13 for over 50 years.

She is survived by her sister, Pearl Summitt Wright of Hawthorne, Fl.; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Jonathan Rhyne; siblings, Frances Elizabeth Dameron, Thomas Benjamin Summitt, Bobbie Faye Rayfield, Margaret Bryte Summitt.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery, with Rev. Kitty Rankin officiating and followed with a funeral ceremony of the Bessemer City Chapter 263 OES.

Her family will receive friends from 11:00 to 11:45AM Saturday at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services, Bessemer City.
