Burl Robinson

Burl Clarence Robinson, Sr. 87, of Dallas, passed away March 6, 2013 at Robin Johnson House. He was born July 10, 1925 in Chambers County, Alabama to the late Jesse Kirkland and Myrtle Raughton Robinson.

Burl was retired from International Ladies Garment, a United States Army and Navy veteran serving in World War II and Korean Conflict. He was a member of Long Creek Baptist Church, Gaston Masonic Lodge 263, Bessemer City American Legion Post 243, Scottish Rite Consistory, Oasis Shriners, Scottish Rite Research Society, White Shrine Judean 13, Hillbilly Clan #13, N.C. Sheriffs Association, Unite Southern Region, a Kentucky Colonel and Past Commander of Disabled Veterans.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maggie Bell Michaels Robinson; two infant sons, a grandson, a brother, and a sister

He is survived by his wife Myrtle Norton Robinson; son Burl "Butch" Robinson, Jr. and wife Rhonda of Dallas, daughter Sherry Long Brown and husband Sidney of Gastonia; brother Harold Robinson of Gastonia; 4 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and his little friend Prissy.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at Long Creek Baptist Church, Dallas with Rev. Jim Shaw officiating.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia with military honors by Bessemer City American Legion Post 243 and full Masonic Rites.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-800 pm Thursday at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services, Bessemer City.
