Charles Benfield

Charles Ray Benfield, 84, passed away on Sunday September 25, 2016 at Robin Johnson House, Dallas. A native of Gaston County, he was born on May 14, 1932 to the late James Monroe Benfield and the late Ruth Lowe.

Ray was veteran of the United States Army. He was also a longtime member of Dallas Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Betty Ledford Benfield: his infant son James Benfield; and his brother, Glen Benfield.

Left to cherish his memories is his daughter, Barbara Friday and husband Tony of Dallas; his son, Scott Benfield of Gastonia; grandchildren, Jason Benfield, Dawn Garcia, Nicole Mullinax, Leslie Sukhram; numerous great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 6:45 pm prior to the funeral on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Dallas Church of God.

His funeral service will be held at 7 pm Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Dallas Church of God with the Rev. Danny Shortridge officiating.

A graveside service, with military honors, will be held at 11 am Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Pineview Cemetery, Mt. Holly, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Dallas Church of God, 311 S College St, Dallas, NC 28034.
