Charles Howard, Sr.

Charles “Joe” Joseph Howard, Sr., 79, of Bessemer City, passed away at CaroMont Regional Medical Center on June 18, 2022. He was born June 29, 1942, in Los Angeles County, California to the late Roscoe Hiram Howard and Gertrude Hamilton Howard.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara V. Howard.

Joe was a United States Army veteran and a long-haul truck driver for Bowman Transportation. He was the former Assistant Chief at North Gaston Volunteer Fire Department, Station 21, formerly High Shoals Volunteer Fire Department.

Left to cherish his memories are his sons, Charles Howard Jr., David Howard (Jessica); sister, Judy Butler; aunt, Pat DeBellis; grandchildren, CJ Howard III, Brittany Shelton, Aaden James Howard, Madison Allene Howard, Noah Richard Howard; great-grandchildren, Valek Shelton and Peyton Shelton.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Sisk- Butler Funeral Home.

Joe’s graveside service will be held 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Hillcrest Gardens.
