Charles Ratchford

Charles Price Ratchford, 98, passed away on Tuesday, June19, 2018 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. He was born November 26, 1919 in Gaston County to the late Charles Price and Laura Best Ratchford.

Charles was a member of Antioch Lutheran Church of Dallas and owned and operated Ratchford Tire in Dallas. He was a veteran of WWII with the United States Army. Charles loved to hunt, fuss at sports on TV and play with his Jack Russell buddy "Brody".

Preceded in death by his wife Ruth Lynn Ratchford; infant son Gary Lynn Ratchford; 5 brothers and sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Sharon Ratchford of Dallas; sons Steve Ratchford and wife Tresa of Newton, Johnny Ratchford and wife Brooke of Dallas; brother Claude Ratchford and wife Jean of Bessemer City; sister-in-law Shirley Ratchford of Bessemer City; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; very special friend Frances "Boots" McAllister.

A Celebration of Charles's life will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Antioch Lutheran Church in Dallas with Rev. George Rhyne officiating.

Interment will follow in church cemetery Garden of Peace.

His family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Antioch Lutheran Church Garden of Peace.
