Clyde Costner

Clyde William Costner, 72, of Gastonia, passed away on Friday January 22, 2016 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte. He was born October 3, 1943 in Gaston County to the late Rev. Robert R. and Irene Cody Costner.

He was also preceded in death by his great-grandson, Harrison Grindstaff.

Clyde was the type of person who never met a stranger. He was always joking around and was able to make people feel better anytime they were down. He loved his family more than anything and his grandchildren were his life! There will never be another like him!

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Diana Tanner Costner; daughter, Susan Grindstaff and husband Curtis of Gastonia; sons, Craig Costner of Kings Mountain, Chris Costner and wife Karla of Woodruff S.C.; brothers, Charles, Tom, James and Howard; sisters, Linda Hefner and Glenda Costner; special sister-in-law Jean Costner; special nephews Chuck and Michael Costner; eleven grandchildren: Brett, Tara, Justin, Brandon, Austin, Tanner, Dawson, Genevieve, Bayliegh, Silas, and Charis.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, January 25, 2016 at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services, Bessemer City with Rev. Dennis Boyce officiating.

Interment will follow in Armstrong Cemetery, Gastonia.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home.
