Danny Blanton

Danny Durham Blanton, 69, of Kings Mountain, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 2, 2018. He was born on June 9, 1948, in Cleveland County to the late Clyde and Katherine Payne Blanton.

Danny loved NASCAR racing, playing poker, western movies and sports.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter April Morales and husband Eduardo of Kings Mountain; stepdaughters, Rita Cunningham of Golden, Miss. and Trina Henderson, and husband Gary, of Gastonia; brother, Mike Blanton of Cherryville; grandchildren, Megan Cunningham and fiancé Bubba Robbins of Golden, Miss., Samantha Morrison and husband Da'Shawn of Las Vegas, Nevada, Melissa Morrison and fiancé Devin of Cramerton, Sierra Morrison of Kings Mountain, Zachery Belk and fiancé Alex Pantuso of Gastonia, and Matthew Belk of Kings Mountain; great-grandchildren, Gunner Belk, Alice Belk, Kylie Robinson, Arianna Emerson, and Titus Emerson; nieces, Leslie Sawyer, Kim Ledford, and Brandy Swink; nephews, Lawrence E. Hamrick and Jeff Ledford.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Sherry Bush Blanton; his three sisters, Rachel Ledford, Gail Graham, and Sara Weaver; and his nephew, Todd Weaver.

His funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2018 in the Sisk-Butler Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:45 prior to his service at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain
