Dewitt Branch

Dewitt Branch, 90, of Bessemer City, died November 23, 2012, at home.  He was born November 23, 1922 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Walter and Ocie Ledbetter Branch.



Dewitt was a United States Army Veteran serving in WW II. He served in the southern Philippines; Asiatic Pacific theater campaign medal with 2 bronze service stars; Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 bronze stars; good conduct medal; victory medal; and bronze arrowhead.



He attended Salvation Army Worship Center, Gastonia. He ran Branch's wholesale for many years and worked at Osage-Reeves.



He is survived by his children Buddy Eugene Branch and wife Wanda of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jean Branch Conner of Bessemer City, and Randy Dewitt Branch and wife Gilda of Myrtle Beach, SC; brother Alonzo Branch of Lincolnton; sister Helen Price of Bessemer City; 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Christine "Pete" Cole Branch of 71 years



Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Millwood officiating.



Interment will follow in Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.



The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Monday at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home.
