Dora Newman

Dora Mae Heafner Newman, age 75, passed away on Saturday May 20, 2017, at Gastonia Care and Rehabilitation. She was born on July 20, 1941 to the late Ernest Heafner and Minnie Eileen Yelton.

Dora was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Nambair and her granddaughter Crystal Sexton.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 58 years, Lewis Newman, Sr.; sons, Lewis Newman, Jr. and family of Greensboro, NC, Jimmy Newman of Gastonia; daughter, Shelia S. Robinson and husband, Bobby Robinson of Gastonia; her brothers , Fred Yelton, and Jimmy Sawyer; her sisters, Nellie Gentry, and Shirley Howell; nine grandkids and five great-grandkids.

A celebration of Dora's life will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday May 25, 2017 at the funeral home with Reverend Gary Teague, III officiating.

Her family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday evening May 24th at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home located at 730 Gastonia Highway in Bessemer City, NC.

Interment will follow her service on Thursday May 25th at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Gastonia, NC.
