DOROTHY BRACKETT COLEMAN

Dorothy Brackett Coleman, 94, of Gastonia, passed away on June 29, 2014 at Alexandria Place, Gastonia. She was born March 20, 1920 in Gaston County, NC, to the late Robert and Mattie Queen Brackett. She was also one of twelve siblings.

Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was a member of the First Wesleyan Church of Gastonia. She worked for Woolworth's Department store for many years, and retired from Belks.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Ross Brackett, Benjamin Brackett, R.G. Brackett, W.M. Brackett, and John Brackett; sisters Alpha Kennedy, Violet Lynn, and two infant sisters, granddaughter Wendy Jones Evans.

She is survived by her son Earl Coleman, Jr.; daughters Jane Grindstaff and husband Benny of Gastonia, Violet Belinger and husband Lou of Arizona; brother James Brackett and wife Frieda of Marion Indiana, sister Rebecca B. Seymour of Boger City, grandchildren Scott Grindstaff of Bradenton Fl, Curtis Grindstaff and wife Susan of Gastonia, Dawn Hall and husband Terry of Gastonia, Keith Jones of Gastonia, 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Her funeral service will be held 5:00pm Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services, Bessemer City with Rev. Rick Brackett officiating.

Interment will be private at Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff of Alexandria Place for the care that was given to Ms. Coleman.
