Dorothy Wolfe "Dot" Lynn, 92, passed away Nov. 11, 2014, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 22, 1921, in Gaston County to the late Dewey Jefferson and Suda Lenoir Kennedy Wolfe.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Theodore A. Lynn Sr.
Dot graduated from Bessemer City High School in 1940. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Bessemer City. She was a Sunday school teacher of primaries and adults1. Dorothy was a GA leader, WMU president and church historian and librarian. She was honored in 2000 along with her husband, T. A. by First Baptist Church in recognition of over a century of combined of service. Dorothy was awarded Bessemer City citizen of the year in 1981. Dorothy was Worthy Matron of the Bessemer City Chapter Order of Eastern Star. She was employed with Gaston County for 38 years in the Health Department and at Bessemer City Branch Library.
She is survived by her son, Theo A. Lynn Jr. and wife, Sharon of Dallas, brothers, Max Wolfe and wife, Beth of Gastonia, Jeff Wolfe and wife, Pat of Salem, SC; sister, Mary Huffsteller and husband, Jim of Bessemer City; granddaughter, Catherine Campbell and husband, Anthony; numerous nieces and nephews; special caregiver Cathern Benton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services, Bessemer City.
Her funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Bessemer City with the Revs. Tom Ravan and Samuel Murphy officiating.
Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
