Edna Mae Darby, 89, went home to be with her Lord, Saturday morning, July 28, 2018. She was born March 3, 1929 in Cherokee County, SC to the late Robert W. and Hattie Swink Moses.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Horace John Darby; son, Danny Darby; brother, Robert Moses; sister, Ann Hanna
Left to cherish her memory is her children; Terry Darby and fiancé Patsy Haney of Gastonia, Hoyt Darby and wife Phyllis of Kings Mountain, Lloyd Darby and wife Denna of Dallas, NC, Marvin Darby and wife Kay of Marietta, Ga., Dorothy Darby and husband Tony of Dallas, NC, Roxie Summey of Bessemer City, Kris Caughron, and Debra Cunha of Dallas, NC; three grandchildren, Eric, Joey and Michael, that she helped raise; 20 additional grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Edna was a faithful member of Eighth Street Church of God in Bessemer City. Everybody loved Maw Darby's cakes and desserts. Baking was her ministry and service to the Lord.
Edna's going home celebration, officiated by Pastor Ronnie Pendleton, will be held at 2:30 pm Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Eighth Street Church of God, Bessemer City.
Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
Edna's family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:30 prior to her service at the church.
