EDWARD MATTHEWS

Edward LeRoy Matthews, 80, of Clover, SC, passed away on January 2, 2014 at Alexandria Place, Gastonia. He was born April 14, 1933 in Swain Co., NC, to the late Rufus Coleman and Ida McFee Matthews.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna Summey and husband Bobby of Cherryville; special daughter and caregiver, Linda Cole; step-daughters, Bobbie Jean Smith, Donna Vaughn; step-sons, Jack Lowe, Don Cole; grandchildren, Greg Summey, Christy Sherbert, Curtis Summey; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-granddaughters; numerous step-grandchildren; his faithful companion ," Trouble".

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Hamrick Matthews; brothers, Charles and Howard Matthews; sisters, Verna Mathis, Hilda Kinley.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremations Services, Bessemer City with Rev. Randal Phillips officiating.

His family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens, York, SC.
