Edward William "Brady" Stewart, 82, of Bessemer City, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving nieces on October 28, 2014. He was born in Gaston County on May 16, 1932 to the late Charlie P. Stewart, Sr. and Florence Bell Stewart.
Brady was a faithful member of the Ragan Wesleyan church since 1961. He also worked in manufacturing for more than 40 years. Brady loved fishing and gardening. His enjoyment was giving cookies and candy to his great and great-great nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Charles Stewart, Clayton Stewart; sisters Geraldene Stewart and Hettie Dunn; niece Sheila Bates.
He is survived by his sister, Betty Stewart Caldwell of Bessemer City; sister-in-law Linda Stewart of Bessemer City; nieces and caregivers, Kathy Rhinehardt, Cherie Hawkins, Patsy Schied, and Barbara Putnam; nephews Jim Long, Don Long, Forrest Stewart, Chuck Stewart and Pat Dunn; nieces, Anna Adams, Jo Marie Sheffield, Sherry Dellinger, Donna Mitchem, Teresa Stewart, Goldie Robinson, Janice Sellers and Robin Best. Brady also is survived by numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews, who loved him dearly.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Lincoln County and the staff of Peak Resource of Cherryville for their special care.
Brady's funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Ragan Wesleyan Church with the Rev. John Harper and the Rev. Jerry Millwood officiating.
Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 1:00 - 2:30 PM Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Ragan Wesleyan Church, 535 Oates Road, Gastonia, NC 28052.
