Emma Lillian Albright Adams, June 27, 1921 - October 19, 2014, was born in Gaston County to Mary Beam and Walter Albright. She graduated from Bessemer City High School where she was voted the "Prettiest in the Class", played basketball and was chosen Most Athletic. She was married to F.C. "Pete" Adams for 57 years. Emma and Pete were faithful members of First Baptist Church of Bessemer City where they served as Sunday School teachers and Training Union leaders in the children's department for many years. She was a retired textile worker. Emma loved working in her yard. She enjoyed planting and growing flowers and her home was always filled with fresh flowers from her yard. Her passion was for her family. She was a caring and compassionate woman who always put the needs of others before herself. Emma was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother and homemaker, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lived in Bessemer City until her health declined and she moved to Anderson, SC to live with her son and daughter-in-law. During her last years, she lived at Exalted Health and Rehab in Iva, SC.
She is survived by her son Gary Adams and wife Kathy Elmore Adams of Anderson, SC;
daughter, Adele Adams Luckey and her husband, Bill Luckey of Archdale, NC; niece of the home, Frankie Riddle Russell and her husband Ronnie of Durham, NC; sister, Mary Canipe of Bessemer City; sister-in-law, Hazel Bess of Bessemer City; grandchildren, Christi Adams Beard (Keenan) of Rock Hill, SC, Casey Adams Dombroski (John) of Taylors, SC, Laura Luckey Leonard (Steve) of Trinity, NC, Bradley Luckey (Mandy) of Archdale, NC, Ronda Howe (Chris) of Burlington, NC, Scott Russell (Paige) of Wake Forest, NC; great-grandchildren, Lydia Beard, Maryana Dombroski, Garron Dombroski, Kathleen Dombroski, Jacilyn Dombroski, Drake Garrett, Levi Leonard, Endie Leonard. Emma loved and cherished every member of her family including many wonderful nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, F. C. "Pete" Adams; infant son, Steve Albright Adams; parents, Mary and Walter Albright; sisters, Edith Rockholt, Martha Wylie; brothers, Alvoid Albright, Clayton Albright, Ralph Albright, Ray Albright, Clyde Albright; sisters-in-law, Jean Albright, Louise Albright, Doris Albright; brothers-in-law, Albert Wylie, Tom Canipe.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at First Baptist Church, Bessemer City with Rev. Tom Ravan and Rev. A. A. Bailey officiating.
Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
