Emma Broome

Emma Sarah Helms Broome, 86, of Gastonia, passed away September 16, 2014 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. She was born on February 14, 1928, in Mecklenburg County, NC, to the late Shed and Helen Pressley Helms.

Emma is survived by her son, Michael Broome and wife Shelby of Cherryville; daughters, Frances Green and husband Fred, Betty Walker and Tracie Dodson all of Gastonia, Pat Owens and husband Robert of Bolivia, NC; 23 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mackie Lee Broome; daughters, Brenda Bell, Katherine Medlin, and Daisy Mae Crawford.

Her funeral service will be 3:00 PM Saturday at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Frank Hoyle officiating.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
