ENID MILLER KIEFER

Enid Miller Kiefer, 95, passed away June 19, 2012, in Spokane, WA. She was born March 18, 1917 in Meadville, PA, to the late Dale O and Enid Findlay Miller.

Enid graduated from Wilkinsburg High School, Wilkinsburg, PA in 1934. In 1938, she married Dean Burtt Kiefer in Pittsburgh, PA and he passed away September 19, 1986. They lived in New Jersey for 31 years and raised a daughter, Margot, and three sons, Charles, Dean, and Dale. Enid enjoyed sewing, cooking, poetry, big band music, making jewelry and especially animals of all kinds. In 1978, she and Dean retired to Bessemer City, NC where she became an active member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church there. She helped organize Bessemer City's 100th Anniversary Celebration and contributed to a book on the town's history. In 2006, she moved to Spokane, WA where she enjoyed the company of her new friends at Rockwood at Hawthorne, her two cats, Midnight and Tigger, and being near her son Dean and his wife Karen. She especially enjoyed a visit to Cat Tails in 2010 where she was able to spend some time playing with and petting Amura, a baby Bengal tiger. Enid was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church in Spokane. She died peacefully at Hospice House of Spokane. The family sincerely thanks the staff of Hospice House
for their comfort and care as well as the staff at Rockwood at Hawthorne and all her friends in Bessemer City who were so supportive when she lived there.

She is survived by her daughter Margot A. Doyle and Neville Doyle of Binsdale, Australia; sons Dean B. Kiefer and Karen Gendron of Spokane, Dale E. Kiefer and Elizabeth Kiefer of Hackettstown, NJ; daughter-in-law Cheryl Kiefer of Laramie, WY; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and son Charles S. Kiefer.
