Frances Clemmer Rayfield, 85, of Gastonia died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family on September 26, 2015 in Pennsylvania. She was born on May 22, 1930 in Gaston County, to the late Sloan Columbus and Juanita Oates Clemmer.
Frances was retired from textiles and was formerly employed with Belk's. She was a member of Pisgah ARP Church in Gastonia. Frances was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and treasured aunt.
She was also preceded in death by her husband James Andrew Rayfield; sisters and brother, Mary Alice C. Kaylor, Annie Sue C. Robinson, Daniel Brice Clemmer
Frances is survived by her step-son, Lanny Rayfield, Sr. and wife Brenda; grandchildren, Lanny Reese Rayfield, Jr. and wife Jennifer Y. Rayfield, James Patrick Rayfield and wife Jennifer E. Rayfield; great-granddaughters, Erin, Anna and Julia; great-grandson, Lanny Reese Rayfield, III; nephew, Marvin Clemmer and wife Mary, Stanhope Clemmer and wife Kristi, Bobby Robinson and wife Annie, Randy Robinson and wife Ann; niece, Brenda Ward and husband Robert; adopted grandchildren, Theo Dai, Colleen Dai, Stanley Dai, Faithanne Clemmer, sister-in-law, Maryann Suggs Clemmer.
Her graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia with Rev. Richard C. Lewis, Jr. officiating.
The family will receive friends after the service at the graveside.
