George Nolen

George Edward Nolen, 86, of Kings Mountain, went home to be with the Lord on October 4, 2014, at Kings Mountain Hospice House, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 8, 1928 to the late Edgar Lee and Rosa Lee Hancock Nolen. He is now blessed to be in Heaven with his beloved wife of 63 years Ivory Roper Nolen and infant son George Keith Nolen.

George was a loving spouse, father and paw paw. He was a member of Sunset Lane Baptist Church in Bessemer City where he was a deacon. He loved the Lord and raised his family in a wonderful Christian home. His favorite bible verse was Romans 8:28. He served in the United States Navy and Army.

He is survived by; daughters, Renae Nolen Pruitt and husband Don of Hickory, Ginger Nolen Herndon and husband Bobby of Kings Mountain; son, Perry Nolen and wife Denise of Kings Mountain; grandchildren, Robin Goforth Durham and husband Adam, Paige Colvin Falls and husband Kenny , Jason Goforth, Misty Colvin Rumney and husband Chad, Shawn Colvin and wife Paige, Sarah Nolen, Andrew Nolen; great-grandchildren, Nolen Durham, Cecily Colvin, Kaitlyn Rumney, Hudson Durham, Evan Falls, Kendall Rumney, Kinslee Falls
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM Monday at Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain with Rev. Dick Hannah officiating.

The family will receive friends 1:30-3:30 PM Monday at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home, Bessemer City and other times at the home.
In addition to his parents and spouse he is preceded in death by2 sisters, Mildred Sykes and Elizabeth Rippy; 2 brothers Bill Nolen and Burrell Nolen.
