Gloria Raby

Gloria Marlene Raby, 81, of Gastonia, passed away August 10, 2015 at Robin Johnson House. She was born October 27, 1933 in Gaston County, to the late Frellan Alexander Sr. and Gladys Dale Coley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, of 45 years Herman Raby Sr.; her sisters, Ruth Morris and Letha Hefner; her brother, F.A. Coley Jr.

Marlene is survived by her children; Jennings Raby Jr. of Gastonia, Jeff Raby and wife Sandy, Danielle Raby-Hill and husband Wesley, and Dawn Raby-Reedy; her sister, Vivian Ward; niece, Karan Jones; life-long friend, Carolyn "Sis" Wise; her grandchildren, Cheyenne Reedy, Josh Raby, Jeff Raby Jr., and Ian Hill; and her great-grandchild Caelyn Raby.

Marlene was a very faithful and active member of Westview Baptist Church, Gastonia, NC. One of her favorite hobbies was gem mining at the Mason Mountain Mine of Franklin, NC. She worked for many years in the Arlington and Mutual mills quality control lab where she kept a fresh pot of coffee ready for her friends and co-workers.

Marlene's family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday, at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services.

Her funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday at Westview Baptist Church, Gastonia with the Rev. Jerry Millwood officiating.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia, NC
