Harry Splawn

Harry Lee Splawn, 86, of Bessemer City, passed away on March 26, 2016 at home. He was born July 10, 1929 in Gaston County, to the late Horace Leroy and Onie May Splawn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Richard Splawn; brothers, Talmadge, Glen, Clyde, Bruce, and Boyd Splawn; and sisters, Patricia Phillips and Peggy Jenkins.

Harry was a member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church. He was also a Veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Bessemer City American Legion Honor Guard post 243.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Payseur Splawn; daughter, Karen Terry and husband David of Crouse; grandchildren, Elaine Hager and husband Charles, Ashley Wilson and husband Daniel; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Dan Splawn; sister, Rebecca Mauney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Sisk-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services, Bessemer City, NC.

His funeral service will be held at 2 pm Wednesday March 30, 2016 at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church, Bessemer City, NC with the Rev. Fain Farmer officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors performed the Bessemer City American Legion Honor Guard post 243.
