Heather Abernathy

Heather Nicole Messer Abernathy, 28, passed away on Thursday August 2, 2018 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. She was born August 18, 1989 in Gaston County, daughter to Melissa Hardy and Randy Messer.

Heather was preceded in death by her grandmother, Gladys Hardy; father-in-law, David Abernathy.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Shawn Abernathy; mother, Melissa Hardy; father, Randy Messer and wife Wanda; her children, David Abernathy and Madison Justice along with their faithful companion Connor of the home ; sisters, Hanna Messer, Holly Temple and husband Daniel, Haley Flowers and husband Casey; mother-in-law, Sandra Abernathy; Maternal grandfather, Horace Hardy; six nieces; three nephews; uncle, Barry Hardy and wife Becky; sister-in-law, Tangela Abernathy Chupp.

Heather attended Sandy Ford Freewill Baptist Church of Mt. Holly. She was a very loving mother to her children. She had a heart of gold and would give anyone the shirt off her back. She also loved vacations with her family, especially trips to Destin Florida.

Heather's family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services, Bessemer City.

A Celebration of Heather's life will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, August 12, 2018 in the Sisk-Butler Chapel with Rev. Vernon Cope and Rev. Kenneth Cope officiating.

Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
