Howard Luther Pursley, 84, of Kings Mountain, passed away on January 13, 2015 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. He was born August 2, 1930 in York County, SC, to the late Luther Ward and Inez Breakfield Pursley.
Howard was a member of New Life Worship Center in Kings Mountain and was a foster grandparent for United Way. He was an auto mechanic who worked at Curry's Transmission for 16 years before retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margie Smith Stalcup Pursley; daughters,Norma Weaver and husband Chuck of Kings Mountain, Yvonne Tucker and husband Jeff of Cartersville, GA, Teresa Haynes of Brevard; sons,Tommy Pursley and wife Lisa of Stoney Creek, NC., Carlos Stalcup and wife Becky of Gastonia, Rev. Oscar Stalcup and wife Linda of Bessemer City, Ronald Stalcup and wife Chris of Charlotte, Timothy Stalcup and wife Cathy of Brevard; sisters, Rosa Lee Parham of Charlotte, Lois Smith of York, SC, and Mary Ann Jackson of York, SC; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Pursley and son, Blaine Stalcup, .
His funeral services will be held at the chapel of Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services, Bessemer City, at 11:00 AM on Friday with Rev. Oscar Stalcup and Dr. Robert Eng officiating.
Interment will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain.
The family will receive friends one hour before his funeral service and other times at the home of Norma and Chuck Weaver.
