James Brackett

James “Jim” Ray Brackett, 73, of Bessemer City, passed away at CaroMont Regional Medical Center on July 19, 2021. He was born September 20, 1947, in Buncombe County to the late Estelle Townsend Brackett.

He was preceded in death by siblings.

Jim was a member of the First Assembly of God, Gastonia. He retired from Lithium, Bessemer City after 25 years of service. Jim was an accomplished musician with a passion for country, gospel, and bluegrass. He was a volunteer ambulance driver, disc jockey on the radio, and served many years as a volunteer at B.R.E.A.D., Inc., suppling items and food for the needy.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 37 years, Linda Melton Brackett; son, Ray Brackett (Peggy); stepsons, Clay Carver, Chris Carver (Kim); sister, Ruth Wright; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

His family will receive friends from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home on Thursday, July 22, 2021.

Jim’s funeral service will be held 3:00 PM on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Boyce officiating.

Interment will follow at Westview Gardens Cemetery, Bessemer City.
