James Gibson

James Grady Gibson, 81, of Gastonia, passed away on January 9, 2015, at his residence. He was born August 26, 1933 in Chester County, SC to the late Alvin Basil and Sarah Jane Melton Gibson.

Grady was the owner of G&M Electric Service, Inc., an Eagle Scout with Palms, a member of Unity Baptist Church in Gastonia and taught Sunday School for 43years. He was a United States Navy Veteran during the Korean War, a Gastonia City Fireman for ten years and a member of the Gastonia Masonic Lodge #369 for 58 years.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers Robert Jackson Gibson and Marion Eugene Gibson; sister Elizabeth G. Weaver.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Evelyn Gibson; son Jimmy Gibson and wife Diane of Gastonia; daughter Susan Hardin and husband Wes of Gastonia; grandchildren Alex, Katie, Sarah, Evie Hardin all of Gastonia.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Unity Baptist Church with Revs. Roger Mathis, Jimmie Farmer and Daryl Weaver officiating.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.

Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 PM Monday at the church.
