James "Al" Locklear, Sr.

James “Al” Allen Locklear, Sr., 65, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020 at Presbyterian Hospital. He was born on November 27, 1954 in Scotland County and was a son of the late Carlie “Carl” Locklear and Willie Lee Locklear.

Al retired from the City of Charlotte after 30 years and was a member of Jesus Christ Full Gospel Church, where he served as one of God’s servants, church caretaker and was over foreign missions for Africa and the Philippines.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Hubert, Charles, Guster, Godford Locklear; and sister, Minnie Pearl Locklear.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Clardell Chavis Locklear of the home; sons, Pastor James “Papa” Allen Locklear, Jr. and wife Marsha of Mt. Holly, Clifford Wayne Locklear of Charlotte, Christopher Dennis of Charlotte; daughter, Renee Locklear of Charlotte; sisters, Betty Lois Graham of Laurinburg, Betty Ann Brewineton of St. Paul, Delois Locklear of Little Rock, SC; brother, John “Buddy” Locklear of St. Paul; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren

Al’s funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Jesus Christ Full Gospel Church with Pastor Michael Hedgecoe officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Crown Memorial Park in Charlotte.
