Jeffrey Mitchell

Jeffrey Matthew Mitchell, Sr., 64, of Gastonia, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, February 16, 2018. He was born March 6, 1953 in Nash County to the late Charles Frederick and Eleene Boyd Mitchell.

Jeff was preceded in death by his loving wife of 38 years, Beverly Ann Sisk Mitchell.

Jeff was a longtime member of Firestone Wesleyan Church. He retired from Gaston County School system as both a teacher and a coach. Jeff was a Mustang enthusiast and was a member of the Carolina Super Stangs. He also was an avid fan of the UNC Charlotte 49ers. Jeff was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Matt Mitchell, Jr. and wife Laura; granddaughters, Hannah and Natalee; beloved pet, Gracie; brother, Kirk Mitchell and wife Kay; mother-in-law, Mary "Jean" Sisk; sister-in-law, Cara Sisk Moore; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Jeff's family will receive friends Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 pm at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services, Bessemer City.

A celebration of Jeff's life will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, February 19, 2018 at Firestone Wesleyan Church, Gastonia, with Rev. Don Avore and Rev. Wayne Spear officiating.

A private family burial will be held prior to Jeff's celebration of life service.
