Jimmy Larry Lackey, 80, of Gastonia, passed away Monday May 15, 2017, at Belaire Health Care Center, Gastonia. He was born on January 25, 1937 in Gaston County to the late Boyd and Violet Todd Lackey.

Jimmy wasa veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked at AB Carter for 32 years. He loved to sing about his Lord, and loved fishing and all his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Rachel Hudspeth Lackey; sister Freida Lackey Scroggs and husband Bill of Charlotte; sister-in-law JoAnne Alexander of Mt. Holly; brother-in-law Robert Hudspeth and wife Dot of Lincolnton; numerous nieces and nephews

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Demp Lackey; sister Carol Lackey Hagan.

His funeral service will be held Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Sisk-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Dick Whitener and Pastor John Harper officiating.

Jimmy's family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery, Gastonia.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cancer Services of Gaston County, 246 E. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28054.
