JOE  LONG



Joseph Norman "Joe" Long, 81, of Bessemer City, passed away at his residence on December 22, 2012.  He was born February 11, 1931 in Swain County to the late Gustavis and Betty Sutton Long.



Joe retired from Globe Manufacturing.  He loved fishing, sports, and feeding the birds and squirrels.



He is survived by sons, Jody Long and wife Ginni of Rock Hill, SC, Jimmy Long of Bessemer City; daughters, Kathy Helms and husband Bobby of Charlotte, Elaine Beattie of Bessemer City, Norma Long of Gastonia; brother, Jim Long of Bessemer City; sisters, Louise Holland of Bessemer City, Lola Bryson of Whittier, Dot Perry of Bessemer City; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; special pets, his cat- Buttons, his dog- Elvis



He is preceded in death by his wife, Lavine Long; numerous brothers and sisters.



A Graveside service will be held at 3:30 pm Wednesday at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Millwood officiating.



The family will receive friend's Wednesday, 2:00-3:00 pm at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home, Bessemer City, NC.
