Joseph Tennith "Tenny" Moore, Sr., 82, of Gastonia, passed away on March 15, 2016 at Heffner VA Medical Center, Salisbury, NC. He was born on December 17, 1933 in Gastonia, to the late Flossie Mae Carruthers.

Mr. Moore attended Gaston County schools during the depression. He enlisted in the Air Force in the early 1950's and served in both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. Among his many citations include the Bronze Star Medal which he received while serving his country in Vietnam. He was a member of Westview Baptist Church in Gastonia and also a member of the Westview Baptist Church Men's Brotherhood Group.

Mr. Moore leaves behind a son Joseph Moore, Jr. of Elizabeth City, NC and a daughter Suzanne Osborne of Morganton, NC; along with several grandchildren, sisters Carolyn Peavy and Margaret and Bert Simard of Ariton, Alabama; numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Westview Baptist Church, 3385 Fairview Drive, Gastonia, NC on March 19, 2016 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Jerry Millwood officiating.

Burial will follow in Gaston Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family would like to express its gratitude to many people of Gastonia especially the family of the late Mrs. Maude Brooks and the Lawing family who fed and clothed their father during the depression.
