Lawrence Frederick Holland, 87, passed away June 23, 2012, at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Salisbury. He was born May 7, 1925 in Gaston County to the late Henry Lawrence and Edna Best Holland.
Lawrence was a World War II veteran who served with the Army Air Corps from 1943-1946. He was a member of Bradley United Methodist Church. He was President of Bradley Flyer and Spindle, Inc., where he retired after 53 years of service. Lawrence was a member of Oasis Shrine Temple - Holland Memorial Lodge #668 for 52 years - and was a thirty-second degree mason. He also was a member of the American Legion and the Elk and Moose Lodges. He was a Harley-Davidson enthusiast.
His funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home in Bessemer City with Rev. Eric Reece and Rev. Erman F. Bradley officiating.
Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery with military rites by the Bessemer City American Legion Post 243 Honor Guard.
Visitation will be an hour before the service at the funeral home.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Joanne Bradley Holland; sons, Brad Holland, Freddie Holland and wife Linda all of Carolina Beach, NC; grandchildren, Bradley Paul Holland of Wilmington and Elizabeth Joelle Holland of Greenville, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1425 West Franklin Blvd. Gastonia, NC 28052
