Lee Roy Cowan, age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday May 11, 2018 while at Peak Resources of Gastonia. He was born on September 7, 1931 in Gaston County to the late Lois Siler Kitchen.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Cowan; sister Nettie Clark; and brother Lewis Kitchen.

Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Anderson Cowan; daughters, Rebecca Martin, Angel Buentipo; stepdaughter, Renee Greene; step-son, Butch Campbell; grandchildren Kia and Keanu Buentipo, Tabitha Nettles, Lee Bo Horne, Nick Greene, Shiny Woodard, Nichole McMullen and Bobby Campbell; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren. He also had a best friend who he spent a lot of time with, Tony "Bulldog" Cloninger.

Lee Roy was a textile repair machine shop owner for many years. He loved to be surrounded by friends and family, fishing and watching his grandson, Keanu, play baseball. Lee Roy served in the Army during the Korean War as Airborne and spent time in Germany while serving as a MP. Lee Roy was a member of Ranlo Free Will Baptist Church.

A Celebration of Lee Roy's life, officiated by Rev. Keith Carson, will be held at 8:00 pm Monday, May 14, 2018 in the Sisk Butler Chapel, Bessemer City, NC.

His family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 prior to the service at Sisk Butler, other times at the home.
