Lester Shuford

Lester Plato (Pete) Shuford, 90, died November 3, 2012 at Robin Johnson House in Dallas, NC.



He was born November 5, 1921 in Gaston County, to the late Mr. Frank and Mary Effie Shuford.



A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with receiving of friends one hour prior to the service.  Rev. Preston Davis will be officiating at the service. Interment will be at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.  Plato was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Bessemer City.



Plato was a quiet man that was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  His wife, sons and grandchildren were his life.  Nothing pleased him more than to have his family around him.



Survivors include his son, Lester Scott Shuford; grandchildren, Lindsey S Shuford and Devan S Shuford (Jamie) all of Bessemer City; Zachary Shuford (Shauna), Jerod Shuford, and Lee Shuford (Elizabeth) all of Cherryville; Brothers, Frank Shuford (Rachel) and Bill Shuford (Mary Ann) and sister, Katherine Shuford McClellan, all of Bessemer City; Daughter-n-law - Carlene F Shuford, Bessemer City and Denise B Shuford of Cherryville.



He was proceeded in death by his wife of 62 years, Josie Lee Elizabeth Shuford; son Thomas Keith Shuford;  brothers Horace B Shuford, James Henry Shuford; sisters Margaret Shuford, and Betty Ray Shuford Broome.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, PO Box 95, Bessemer City, North Carolina 29016 or Hospice of Gaston County.
