Lucille Caldwell

Lucille Whitley Farris Caldwell, 97, of Stanley, passed away August 8, 2014 at Robin Johnson House, Dallas. She was born on October 20, 1916 in Whitmire, South Carolina, to the late Clarence Watson and Martha Brown Whitley.

Lucille was a graduate of Bessemer City High School. She was a longtime member of Maylo United Methodist Church in Ranlo where she was a member of the Susanna Wesley Sunday School Class. She was retired from Holiday Inn in Gastonia. Lucille loved her family and was a gracious hostess. She loved music and was a gifted musician.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Yates Clyne Farris, Sr. and William H. Caldwell; son Allan Farris; grandson, Jonathan Young; step-son, Bill Caldwell; several siblings.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhoda Medlin and husband Jim of Stanley; son, Yates C. Farris, Jr. and wife Kay of Daytona Beach, Florida; sister, Ruth Weaver of Bessemer City; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Farris of Bessemer City; step-children, Bob Caldwell and wife Sharon of Boone, Suzie Wilkie of Reidsville; grandchildren, Yates Farris III and wife Lynn of Charlotte, Bradley Thomas Farris and wife Roxanne of Charlotte, Michael Medlin of Gastonia, Dana Simpson and husband Scott of Stanley, Timothy Farris and wife Mandy of Bessemer City, Gina Farris and Chad Farris of Bessemer City; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Matthew, Drew, McKenzie, Zachary, Logan, Halie, Christopher, Dori, John, Jake, Corey, Carmen, Amanda, Abigail .

Her funeral service will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Maylo United Methodist Church in Ranlo with Rev. Laura Auten officiating.

Her family will receive friends 1:00-2:00 PM Sunday at the church.

Interment will follow at Bethany Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Clover, SC.
