Martha Jeanette James

Martha Jeanette James, 76, of Bessemer City, passed away at home on December 2, 2024. She was born February 10, 1948, in Cleveland County, to the late Charles Jack Whetstine and Lucy Axsom Whetstine.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 45 years, William Henry James; several brothers and sisters; grandson, Wesley White.

Martha loved butterflies and watching movies especially Westerns & Texas Ranger. She enjoyed cake decorating, shopping, and had a special love for her family and grandchildren.

Family members left to cherish her memories include sons, Billy James (Kelly), Steve James (Ruthy); sister, Carrie Bradley (Keith); grandchildren, Megan, Bradley, Travis, Dani, Desi; great grandchild, Tatum; sister-in-law, Sue Whetstine; a numerous number of nieces, nephews, special friends, and her beloved fur companion Spike.

A graveside service to celebrate Martha’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 10:00 am at Westview Garden Cemetery with Pastor Matt Mitchell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to VIA Health Partners. The family would like to say a special thanks to Sue & Cindy Quinn for all their care and support during Martha’s life.
