Martha Smithers

Martha Helen Ann Lindsay Smithers, 87, went to be with her Lord on Monday, December 24, 2018. She was born September 25, 1931 in Cocke County TN to the late Roscoe and Glennie Mae Killian Lindsay.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Venice Leo Smithers.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Pamela S. Carter (Harold) of Dallas, Tim Smithers (Tina) of Gastonia, Dustin Smithers (Brooke Weatherford) of Dallas; grandchildren, Brandon Carter, Joshua Parson, Ashley Parson, Caleb Smithers, Wesley Smithers, Brooke Smythers, Logan Smithers; great-grandchildren Landon Chase Carter, Mary Grace Carter, Finnley Joseph Carter, Hayden Parson, Olivia Parson; numerous nephews & nieces.

Helen was a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University. She was a retired teacher with Gaston County Schools who taught mostly at Carr Elementary and Tryon Elementary. Helen was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother. She loved Christian music and was devoted to her Lord.

A Celebration of her life will be held at Sisk-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at 2:00 pm.

Helen's family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 pm prior to the service.

Interment will follow in the Antioch Lutheran Church Garden of Peace in Dallas.
