Melvin Breakfield

Melvin Lee Breakfield, Sr., 75, of Bessemer City, passed away on January 1, 2013, at his residence.  He was born April 28, 1937 in Cleveland County to the late Carl Thomas and Nellie Arrowood Breakfield.



Melvin was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Bessemer City.   He was an avid gardener and fisherman.



He is survived by his children; daughter Martha Breakfield Miller, son Melvin Lee "June"  Breakfield Jr. and wife Reida, and son Kenny Breakfield and wife Sandra all of Bessemer city; daughter Wanda Breakfield Moore and husband Barry of Stanley; mother of his children, Brenda Breakfield; brothers, Joe Breakfield, William "Butch" Breakfield; sister, Pat Sommers; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 7 sisters.



Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday at New Life Baptist Church, Bessemer City,

with Dr. Gene Ware officiating.



Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.



The family will receive friends Thursday, 6:00-8:00 pm at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home.
