Nancy Downing

Nancy Louise Thompson Downing, 82, of Grove City, OH, formerly of Gastonia, NC, passed away at Mount Carmel Grove City Hospital on December 31, 2021, and began her eternal life in her Heavenly home.

She was born August 21, 1939, in Gaston County, to the late Otis Alexander Thompson and Imogene Robinson Thompson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Fredrick Leroy Downing; infant daughter Angeline Downing; brother Don Thompson, and sister Sarah Stalls.

Left to cherish her memories is her daughter Debbie Downing Edwards of Grove City, Ohio; grandson Jordan Edwards of Allentown, PA; sister-in-law Jean Thompson, brother-in-law Bill Stalls, and sisters Linda Dodgen (Tommy) and Becky Hunsinger (Johnny); special friends and extended family.  Nancy enjoyed friendships made in the Senior Golden Agers Sunday School Class while a member at Bethlehem Baptist Church (City Chuch), cross-country camping travel, taking care of her yard, baking, and spoiling her dog, Shamus.

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 8th from 1:00 PM to 2:00PM at Sisk-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services.

Nancy’s graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM on January 8, 2022 at Evergreen Cemetery, Belmont with Pastor Dickie Spargo officiating.
