Oliver Millard Spivey, 99, of Dallas, passed away at CaroMont Regional Medical Center on January 10, 2022. He was born July 9, 1922, in Clay County, to the late George Brabston and Savannah Maney Spivey.
In addition to his parents, Oliver was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Lottie Beatrice Maney Spivey; brothers, Dillard, Willard, Troy, Harley, and Lawrence Spivey; sisters, Ruth Bradshaw, and Lillie Lundsford.
Oliver was a United States Marine veteran serving in World War II. He was an avid reader, a book collector, history buff and a Bible scholar. Oliver was a longtime member of North Gaston Church of God, Dallas.
Left to cherish his memories are his children, Johnny Michael Spivey and Esther Martha Spivey; grandchildren, Tammy Elaine Duvall (Eric), and Dawn Spivey; great-grandchildren, Kendra Wadewitz (Dillon), and Adrianne Duvall; great-great-grandchild, Adam Thatcher Wadewitz.
Oliver’s graveside service will be held 2:00 PM on January 12, 2022 at Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Pendleton officiating
