Peggy Clara White Gibson, 82, of 248 Pleasant Hill Road, passed away Friday, September 9, 2016 at Palmetto Rehab and Wellness in Spartanburg.
A native of Cherokee Co., she was born December 24, 1933 daughter of the late James A. and Clara E Justice White. She was a retired school cafeteria worker from Cherokee Co School District and member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She liked to go to the beach, watch game show T.V.., do word search puzzles and loved to watch her Atlanta Braves play baseball.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Billy Lowery Gibson; three brothers Oscar, Jerry and Edwin White; four sisters Dorothy Gilfillan, Vera Mae Eaker, Irene Mabry and Kathleen McSwain.
Surviving are her children: Barry Gibson, Dennis Gibson, Rhonda Wright, Robin Gibson, Scott Gibson all of Blacksburg and Danny Gibson of Rock Hill; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00pm Sunday at Gordon Mortuary in Blacksburg.
A service to celebrate Mrs. Gibson's life will be held Monday at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Gordon Mortuary with Pastor Jerry Devinney officiating. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Moore, Tommy Baker, Nathan Mullinax, Jimmy Red Johnson, Roger Eaker and Michael Gibson.
In lieu of flowers the family ask to please make donations to the charity of your choice.
