Rachel Moore Thomas, age 94, died peacefully on February 10, 2014. Born on August 15, 1919 to the late Fairley Moore and Flonnie Moore, Rachel graduated from high school and married the love of her life, William Gaylord Thomas. Rachel was deeply loved by her family and community.

A warm-hearted, wise, and humble woman of unwavering faith, Rachel possessed a quick wit and made friends throughout her life. Rachel will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.

In addition to her parents, Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Gaylord; her son, Larry; and her daughter, Sarah Blondell.

Rachel is survived by her brother, George; daughters, Janet and Sheryl; son-in-law, Gene; grandchildren, Terri, Tammi, Kim, Heide, Alex, Suzanne, and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Courtney, Brittany, Maddison, Kevin, Steven, Michelle, Brennen, and Theo. In addition to her beloved family, Rachel had many dear friends in the community and at Meadow Wood.

A Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 15, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Bessemer City, where she was a lifelong member. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
