Reginald “Keith” Lovelace, 66, of Kings Mountain, passed away at his residence on August 18, 2022. He was born May 19, 1956, in Cleveland County, to Fred Ellis Lovelace and Dorothy Louise Canipe Lovelace.
He is preceded in death by son, Jason Bryan Lovelace, siblings, Michael Lovelace, Ronnie Lovelace, Terry Lovelace.
A Father, a Neighbor, a Friend. Keith Lovelace was the hardest working person I knew. Most people nowadays think “Work smarter, not harder” but he would argue about that. He seemed to think working hard was the only way to spend his time. He didn’t work for pay or for notoriety, he worked so that others didn’t have to. He loved doing things for others beyond all else. I remember getting frustrated at him several times because he seemed to do so much for people that would never return the favor. It didn’t seem fair to me. He told me he didn’t help others to get something in return, he did it because it made him feel good. Running a small business is no small feat but Keith Lovelace ran Lovelace Painting for 35 years or more. Treating every employee like family, and making sure their families never went without for birthdays and Christmas. In his mind if everyone looked out for one another, we wouldn’t need to be concerned about ourselves. Keith treated his neighbors, friends, and strangers like family.
He loved nature, hiking, gardening, and tinkering with stuff in the shed, but more than anything he loved his children. He loved taking care of people, he would literally give his last dollar to a pan handler. He refused to let us get free lunch in school even though we qualified because he knew there were kids that needed it more.
Left to cherish his memory is his sons, Kyle Lovelace (Christy), Brandon Lovelace, Michael Owens; daughter, Donna Sneed; grandchildren, Daila, Bryson, Cruz, Journey, Lillian, Riley, mother of the children, Tina Owens; sister, Cindy Houser: aunt and uncle/ cherished caregivers, Daphine Putnam & Eric Rogers.
