Rev. Carl Junior Painter, 94, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021, at home. He was born on June 30, 1927, in Cherokee County to the late John T. and Nancy Harris Painter.
Carl retired from Pharr Yarns in McAdenville, and he was a lifelong member of The Freewill Church of Jesus Christ, where he served as pastor many years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Bertie Ledford Painter; daughter, Jean James; sons, Rev. Jimmy Painter, and James “Buster” Painter; brothers, Cliff Painter and Rev. Edward Painter; sister Pauline Burton; grandson James Edwards.
Left to cherish his memories are his son, Johnny Painter (Joyce) of Dallas; daughters, Judy Green (Joe) of Gastonia, Abby McGill (Rick) of Shelby; June Cash (Rev. Jimmy) of Lowell; brother, Norman Panter; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Carl’s funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, January 6, 2022, at The Freewill Church of Jesus Christ with Rev. Lonnie Harris officiating.
His family will receive friends from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm, Thursday, January 6, 2022, at The Freewill Church of Jesus Christ.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.
