Roger Smith

Roger Dale Smith, Sr., 71, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Wendover Hospice, Shelby. He was born December 23, 1945 in Wyoming County, Kentucky to the late Burlie and Ethel Marie Webb Smith.

Roger was an Evangelist Preacher and attended the Gastonia Citizen Police Academy-Police Department. He also held a Certificate of Completion of training for Concealed Carry Hand Weapons. Roger also had a two year certificate for Automobile Mechanic. He was a professional Chef Cook and a Notary Public.

Left to cherish his memory is his son Jason Michael Smith; grandchildren Tabatia Smith and Michael Smith; wife of 31 years, Caroline Annette Smith; daughters Crystal Lannette, Ballew and Kimberly Nicole Ballew; grandchildren, Hannah Kay Stone, Elijah Ray Stone, Tyler Newcomb, and Madison Paige Newcomb; brothers Dave Heath, Jimmy Heath of West Virginia; sisters Shelby England, Dee Dee Heath, Donna Heath of West Virginia; niece Patsy Deskin of Yakinville.

A Celebration of Roger's life will be held at 3:00pm Sunday, July 9, 2017 at City Set On A Hill Ministry, Gastonia with Rev. Jeff Mauney officiating.

His family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 prior to the service at the church.
