Roland Blair Jenkins, 95, of Gastonia, passed away at CaroMont Regional on April 2, 2023. He was born May 6, 1927, in Gaston County, to the late Ethel Barker Jenkins and Edgar Little Jenkins.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Muriel Elizabeth Martin Jenkins; daughter, Roxanne Karagias; grandson, Jason Jenkins; eight siblings.
Roland was a United States Navy Veteran who served in World War II. He was a member of Bradley United Methodist Church, and the Rambling Rebels Drum & Bugle Corps. Roland was formerly employed by Arlington and Mutual Mills, Carpenter Jenkins Landscaping, John E. Jenkins, Inc., and AMP, Inc.
Left to cherish his memories are daughter, Myra Summey (James); son, Steve Jenkins (Linda); brothers, Reggie Jenkins (Mary Ellen), Kenneth Jenkins (Barbara); grandchildren; Brian Summey (Amy), Christopher Summey (Torrie), Angela Jenkins, Brandi Nelms (Daniel), Heath Stewart; great-granddaughters, Catherine Summey, Anna Nelms, and Abigail Nelms; great-grandson, Liam Brown..
The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale Robinwood for their loving care and support during Roland’s stay with them.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Bradley United Methodist Church, Gastonia on Thursday, April 6, 2023.
Roland’s funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Bradley United Methodist Church, Gastonia, with Pastor Brian Crady officiating.
Interment will follow at Westview Gardens Cemetery, Bessemer City with military honors.
